Tierra Alpina Experience Ltd. Tenure area and TALUS lodge are located in an outstanding park like setting of incredible beauty. The area is true wilderness where a combination of streams, lakes, topography and elevation offer the opportunity to experience nature and view wildlife from a very comfortable home base. The lodge is a new building designed to offer comfort and luxury, balanced with a keen desire to maintain and protect the delicate ecological values within our area of operation and adjacent territories.
TALUS LODGE is a chalet style two story building. The first floor is made up of four bedrooms and an equipment/drying room. The second floor contains the kitchen, living and dining areas, a bedroom and a large loft. Wood stoves provide heating for the buildings and propane is used for cooking. Up to 10 guests are comfortably accommodated in the bedrooms. Upper and lower decks add to the comfort of the lodge. Fantastic views are offered from every room in the lodge and outside decks. A smaller utilities building adjacent to the lodge contains washroom, sauna and shower facilities.
TALUS LODGE is nestled in a spectacular alpine setting located on a limestone plateau between the upper reaches of the Cross and Albert Rivers and four kilometers South from Banff National Park’s boundary. The lodge is in close proximity to White Man Pass and Spray Pass and therefore, can also act as a hub for explorations to and from the Spray River Valley, Palliser Pass and Burstall Pass in Banff National Park and Kananaskis Provincial Park.
The lodge site is dominated by an outstanding mountain horn. A mixture of exposed limestone and meadows of heather and delicate wild flowers adorn the area throughout the snow free months. A healthy ptarmigan population inhabit the meadows year around. Larch trees surround the lodge site and rim the alpine plateau within easy access of the lodge. To the North West, the lodge also offers fantastic views of Mount Assiniboine. Glaciers in the immediate vicinity provide melt water for the three lakes and meadows.
There are great possibilities for nature viewing, wildlife observing and hiking due to the variety of terrain. Easy plateau walking and easily accessible mountain ridges offer outstanding views of the surrounding area vary from easy to advanced. These include: Mount Assiniboine, The Royal Group, Mount Sir Douglas, Mount Birdwood, and Burstall Pass. Many small alpine lakes add to the beauty of the terrain.
Access to the lodge is via helicopter, with the option of flying from Canmore or Mount Shark in Alberta.
All efforts have been made to operate the lodge with the most up to date sewer and waste treatment systems, to eliminate or mitigate possible environment impacts or undesirable wildlife encounters.
