Chris Espinel

Chris was born in Ecuador, South America where he grew up hiking and climbing in the Andes before coming to Canada. His early working career in Canada was with the airline industry before becoming a Forest Technician and later a Registered Professional Forester. Chris and his family have lived in Invermere, BC since 1985.

Always looking for new opportunities, an idea for a remote alpine lodge began to take shape. His knowledge of the East Kootenay and his keen interest in discovery led him to find the unique and pristine Talus Lodge location.

Mountains and the outdoors have always been a passion for Chris and he continues to explore the Canadian landscape as well as some areas overseas. Hiking, mountaineering, canoeing, biking, skiing and exploring are a big part of Chris’s life.

Through conversations as a hiking guide at Talus, Chris enjoys sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for this unique corner of the Canadian Rockies.
