DIRECTIONS TO THE MOUNT SHARK HELIPAD
Canmore to Mount Shark Helipad via Spray Lakes Road (Highway #742)
Allow 1 hour of driving time from Canmore
- Follow signs to the Canmore Nordic Centre.
- Continue past the Canmore Nordic Center.
- Continue on the Spray Lakes Road/Smith-Dorrien Trail(#742) for 37 kilometers. This is a gravel road.
- Turn right onto the Mount Shark Road.
- Drive past the sign for Engadine Lodge and over the bridge.
- Continue down the winding road for 2.5 km.
- Turn left following the sign to Mount Shark Helipad.
Canmore to the Mount Shark Helipad via Kananaskis Trail (Highway#40).*
Allow 1 hour and 45 minutes of driving time from Canmore.
*Alternate route should the Spray Lakes Road (Highway 742) be closed.
- TransCanada Highway East (Highway #1).
- Exit on Kananaskis Trail (Highway #40).
- Turn west (right) onto Smith-Dorrien Trail/Spray Lakes Road (#742) for 30 km. This is a gravel road.
- Turn left on Mount Shark Road. Drive past the sign for Engadine Lodge and over the bridge.
- Continue down the winding road for 2.5 km.
- Turn left following the sign to Mount Shark Helipad.
Calgary to the Mount Shark Helipad via Kananaskis Trail (Highway#40).
Allow 1: 45 hours of driving time from Winsport in Calgary.
- TransCanada Highway West (Highway #1)
- Exit on Highway #40 (Kananaskis Trail).
- Turn west (right) onto Smith-Dorrien Trail/Spray Lakes Road (#742) for 30 km. This is a gravel road.
- Turn left on Mount Shark Road. Drive past the sign for Engadine Lodge and over the bridge.
- Continue down the winding road for 2.5 km.
- Turn left following the sign to Mount Shark Helipad.
